*RECAP* "Brain Evolution" Jumping Brain custom show and Toy Art Gallery Grand Re-Opening
Last night marked the grand re-opening of the brand new location for Toy Art Gallery, and along with the new location they also played host to the opening of Emilio Garcia’s “Brain Evolution” Jumping Brain custom group show where each artist that was asked to participate put their own spin on this already curious creation... and along with the awesome new spot on Melrose, and all the fantastic 6” custom resin Jumping Brains... this was a fun filled evening! One highlight from the night was that I finally got to meet the man behind the brain, Emilio Garcia, as he took the 17 hour long trip all the way from Spain to not only setup the show - which included massive bronze Jumping Brains, his new Toy2R 36" Brain Pattern Qee, the original hand painted 8" Qees, and a great looking CMYK installation that featured giant plaster Jumping Brains, all colored up in dazzling hues!
With the help of photographer Ryan Rescober, we both managed to each snap a ton of photos from this event (view em all after the jump), covering it from beginning to end, trying to give all of you a feel at how massive and nice the new Toy Art Gallery location is. On top of all the amazing customs, TAG had on display all kinds of exclusives for the re-opening... from resin robots, to small runs of vinyl figures, the new location housed all of this... plus soooo much more including an ever growing wall of Japanese Sofubi, an entire 3A section, apparel, and all the blind boxes you will ever need... this place is now a must see among other Melrose located shops like Munky King and Kidrobot!
It was so great to see such a huge turnout for this event, and a huge congrats goes out to TAG owner Gino Joukar for making his original vision a reality, and doing it all with style on his birthday -which was last night as well :-) - and was celebrated with a rad Jumping Brain cake that Vince and crew from VTSS Toys sent over! I can't stress the fun I had last night... and I look forward to the next event that TAG throws as they will continue to expand on their new location, and if you were unable to make it out last night, be sure to head on out TODAY, Saturday September 17th, as Emilio will be signing and sketching his new vinyl Jumping Brain from 2pm-5pm! Be sure to hit the jump for many more photos from this event!
