Luke Chueh & kaNO for "Getting BIG" Sharky show
Opening this Friday, May 20th at the Toy Tokyo Underground Gallery is Keithing of ToyQube's giant Sharky show titled "Getting BIG"... which today we have reveals of both Luke Chueh and kaNO's submissions for this show. First up is Luke's rad 36" tall fiberglass beast titled "SHARKY FIN SOUP", and as you can see from the image above, Luke took a very simplistic approach to the paint scheme keeping it very true to form. The striking part about this custom is the cut off fin, with is sitting in a bowl of blood, or should I say a bowl of Shark Fin Soup which is a popular soup item of Chinese cuisine usually served at special occasions. You can draw your own conclusions from this one... a bold statement nonetheless, and really great execution!
Up next is kaNO's submission for this show as he turned his giant 36" fiberglass Sharky into a Air Jordan 5 sneaker model he is calling "Air Sharky". I had been following the process of this piece and I am floored at how clean the lines are on it, as he used masking and spray paint for the majority of this figure... no brush strokes, nice and smooth! kaNO did a really great job turning this once organic shape into what you see above... and best of all it works really well! Be sure to head on out this Friday to see these pieces as well as many others in person!
