WHAT'S NEW

Wondercon Sat. Four Horsemen info

Wondercon 2011 kicked off with a bang yesterday in San Francisco. 2011 marks the 25th anniversary for the event and man has it grown of the years. Walk around the exhibit hall I found all kinds of great items but since it's still going and I have to get back there I'll just give you guys a quick run down and some photo's. First up, Fourhorsemen Toys is doing a contest, they are located at booth 436. Simply be the first person to find Jim Preziosi and shout out the wonderphrase of the day found here.

Four Horsemen will be hosting a great panel on methods and materials for toy making. A little history at this point on Four Horsemen might be good to explain why this is such a treat for anyone into toys and particularly aspiring artists. Remember the days before vinyl toys? way back in the late 80's and early 90's toys sucked. For the most part figures looked like crap and paint jobs were awful (pretty much the same as now with reg. production toys) then a little company called McFarlane came to the scene and started producing some amazing looking toys called Spawn. Spawn toys had great sculpts and the paint jobs really made them stand out. For many years they were responsible for pulling people into collecting toys. Now why am I bringing almost 20 year old toys up? well the best designs of early Spawn figures were largely done by 4 highly skilled artists and sculptors (see where this is going) later as McFarlene started going down hill they left and formed their own company, as you've probably guessed it Four Horsemen toys, so these guys know what they are talking about. Plus these guys are responsible for making the highly sought after Master Of The Universe classic collection as well as their own toys now.

Methods and materials for toy making will be Today (Sat.)in Room 104 from 3:00pm to 4:00pm dont miss it.
