"RPM" vinyl figure by Frank Kozik
Seeing as artist Frank Kozik has some pretty deep roots in the entire music industry, creating rock posters and having his own label for many years, it's very fitting to have Frank involved in creating the mascot Record Store Day... and that is what he did. This specially designed piece is a 5” figurine appropriately named "RPM". These little guys will be blind boxed, retailing for $15.99, and will house 4 unique figures, The Anarchy Punk, The Super Hero, The Monster and The Let’ s Party Bear. The figures will be limited to only 5,000 pieces (1500 each of the Punk/Hero/Monster and 500 Let’ s Party)! It's really a fun humanoid character that will represent RSD from here on out, and having a design by Kozik makes the bridge between vinyl and music that much greater! They will be available on Record Store Day, which is the third Saturday every April, at participating record stores, comic shops and the Coachella Festival.
Kozik states: "I first became aware of independent creative thought and art through the efforts of MY local record stores, many years ago. I firmly believe that nothing can replace the walk into a place where you can lay hands on to new stuff and energy. I am very pleased to be able to support Record Store Day in its message of SUPPORT THE INDEPENDENTS. It's the only honest source." What are your thoughts on this crossover... you like, dislike and why?
