Cupco - December 4th - 31st 2009 • Australian-based artist Cupco (Luke Temby) makes his first US appearance here at Metropolis - though he has already developed a near-fanatic following in the states for his one-of-a-kind soft sculptures. As recently featured at Christies Auction House in their Pop Cuture auctions, Cupco has created a universe of morbidly hilarious characters, taking a cartoonish swipe at world religions, pop culture and politics. Reminiscent of underground comix pioneers such as Gary Panter and Charles Burns, Cupco's soft sculpture pieces marry mythology to Pop Art through the lens of a demented children's show. To be added to the preview list for this show, please contact Metropolis.
