DJ SHADOW JUKE-BOT RELEASED
DJ Shadow and Cut Chemist proudly announce the arrival of their first foray into the world of vinyl toys: the Juke-Bot.
Brought to life by a dream-team of creative thinkers, the Juke-Bot is designed by internationally renowned street artist and longtime Shadow collaborator Paul Insect, based on conceptual art by Ben Stokes. Production and sculpting credits go to Klim Kozinevich and Scott Wetterschneider of Bigshot Toyworks.
Cut Chemist and DJ Shadow commissioned the Juke-Bot to tie-in with their rampantly successful series of "Hard Sell" DJ sets, which kicked off in front of 15,000 people at the world-famous Hollywood Bowl in June, 2007. Since then, the duo have released a plethora of material to promote the shows, including two CDs, a DVD, posters, t-shirts, and now, a roto-molded vinyl toy, all featuring the Insect-designed Juke-Bot.
"We conceived it as a throwback to a pre-digital era," Shadow explains. “There's something about a jukebox doing battle with pesky iPods that seems to resonate with people. It's a kind of protest against the technology rat-race, particularly where music is concerned."
Juke-Bot stands 7.5" high, is 3" wide at the base, and has bendable arms and legs. It is housed in a beautifully designed, hand-numbered cardboard box with full-color art by Insect.
Quantities of Juke-Bot are limited to 500 worldwide, and it is currently available EXCLUSIVELY at ShopDjShadow.com. Juke-bot will also be sold at the last "Hard Sell" tour dates (see www.djshadow.com/tour for more information). JUKE-BOTS ARE GO!
