Méxican artist
Jump Jumper Ant is best known for her feminine "Catrina" custom Dunnys, which imbue a Día de Muertos aesthetic on richly dressed 3-inch Dunny forms that have been modified to resemble vintage dolls, which makes it no surprise she contributes a design along these lines to the the forthcoming "Día de Muertos 2" series from the
Dunny Hecho en México collective. Adorned with facial markings reminiscent of the Calavera, or Day of the Dead sugar skull, these "Tina Catrina" pieces have been completed with textured attire and creepy glass eyes… though they are actually resin eyes, hand-cast by the artist, that give off a Mona Lisa effect (if you are unfamiliar,
watch them in action). A striking and stunning addition to any collection, Jump Jumper Ant has created only five handmade copies using this design to be included randomly within the DMX8 blind boxes.
The
previously announced "Dia de Muertos 2" series (DMX8) will feature an amazing array of talent. The lineup has been revealed to be Avatar666, Cucaracha Borracha,
El Hooligan, Jump Jumper Ant, Lupilu Soler, Matucha,
Mr. Mitote, Shiffa,
Tadeo Mendoza, and Yoste KMKZ with three chase designs made by Matucha, Lupila Solir, and Cucaracha Borracha as well as one Golden Ticket prize made by Tadeo Mendoza, though the Golden Ticket winner will just have to cover shipping costs of it. Sales of the $105 apiece blind boxes (shipping not included) will begin on October 20th, 2017 at 11am Pacific time, with those interested simply emailing orders to
dunnyhechoenmexico [at] gmail [dot] com.
