Fans of pop surrealist artist
Mark Ryden are certainly not strangers to the "meat dress" concept, which we've notably seen in the stunning oil paintings
Incarnation (#100) (2009) and
Anatomia (2014). The above-pictured design is also not new, just the format is… Based on 2012's
Porcelain Meat Dress edition design from the
Gay 90's West exhibition, this new version is the aptly named
Wood Meat Dress. A hand-painted polychrome carved wood sculpture, this 8- to 9-foot tall piece will debut at Ryden's retrospective exhibition
Cámara de las Maravillas (trans. House of Wonders) at the
Centro de Arte Contemporáneo de Málaga in Spain. Included in the exhibition will be paintings, illustraitions, dioramas, and several sculptures in addition to the
Wood Meat Dress. Opening on December 16th, this retrospective will remain on display in the space until March 5th, 2017.
