As part of
The World of Tim Burton exhibition in Hong Kong, a collaborative outing between
Burton and urban vinyl designer
Michael Lau began to take form. Manifesting as two "new" figures, Lau was able to take one of Burton's lesser known characters — "Balloon Boy" — and reimagine it in his own style while Lau's classic "Maxx" figure from the Gardener line has been redesigned in Burton's classic style. With both set to be issued as vinyl figures, each limited to 500 pieces, they can be ordered now as part of
the exhibition's FringeBacker campaign… The 12-inch tall "Balloon Boy" costs HK$2500 (approx. $323) while the 6-inch tall "Maxx" (with his pet "BB" accomplice) costs HK$1600 (approx. $207). While the exhibition opens on November 3rd, with Lau's sketches and prototypes on display,
the FringeBacker campaign will be available to backers until January 23rd, 2017.
