The news that
Kidrobot are returning to the multi-artist, 3-inch tall Dunny mini-series has us all excited, especially since this is the first one since 2014! We
previously revealed that Japanese sculptor and illustrator
Tokyo Jesus would be part of the
J★RYU curated set, but who else is in it? In addition to J
★RYU himself, several other sites exclusively revealed the other contributors:
Jon-Paul Kaiser (revealed on
Vinyl Pulse),
Godmachine (revealed on
TOYSREVIL), and
Camilla d'Errico (revealed on
The Toy Chronicle)! With a total of five artists, we can expect each to be contributing two or three designs within the theme of "a journey into the world of Tarot." Given Tokyo Jesus's penchanct for skulls and decay, J
★RYU's dark filigree-laden designs, JPK's stark style, and Godmachine's nightmarish visions, we foresee this being a very gothic, dark series… Of course, d'Errico seems like the odd-woman-out in this scenario, though even her brightly colored, manga-inspired work tends to have haunting undertones to it… With release expected to happen in early 2017, there is plenty of time for reveals and "more surprises" to be revealed in the coming months.
