Kidrobot's "Arcane Divination" Dunny Artist Revealed: Tokyo Jesus!

No, pictured above is not a real reveal of what Tokyo Jesus's first production Dunny will look like, but we will be finding out what the Japanese artist envisions for the 3-inch tall figure when his design (or designs) are released early next year as part of the "Arcane Divination" mini-series. As we previously announced, this return for Kidrobot to the multi-artist mini-series (the first since 2014!) has been curated by J★RYU.

While everyone is tight-lipped about what Tokyo Jesus's contribution to this "journey into the world of Tarot" will look like, we strongly suspect that it will include the elements that his dystopian art has become known for: skulls, decay, science, and the delicacy of human-ness. When we asked Tokyo Jesus, born Sayu Ishiyama, about this opportunity he replied that while he "wanted to customize a Dunny for quite some time" it was surprising to be invited "to participate in this big project." Himself a sculptor, having worked at Bandai Sofbi Toys almost a decade before creating his own artistic visions starting in 2009, we suspect his contribution(s) will be radical re-imaginings of the platform. When asked about the whole series's designs, he simply said:

I hope everyone can see how different this series of Dunnys is from others. They are all amazing and amazingly crazy. I am certain everyone is going to love this series of Dunnys.

Aside from Tokyo Jesus (and J★RYU presumably), the other three artists in this phenomenal sounding series have been exclusively revealed at The Toy Chronicle, TOYSREVIL, and Vinyl Pulse (one artist revealed per site).
