For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. So when the DC Comics universe had the heroic Justice League form within it, it was only a matter of time before villainous Injustice League would band together. Composed of the JLA membership's greatest nemeses, it appears that the Injustice League — in one form or another — will be invading the "
XXRay" line next. Designed by
Mighty Jaxx team members
Ben Qwek (Illustration) and Adam Tan (Sculpt), each 4-inch tall PVC piece in this series is given a unique artist voice courtesy of
Jason Freeny's quarter-cut dissection element. Officially licensed from
DC Comics, the first three pieces in the "Villains, Wave 1" line have been revealed to be the Joker, Black Manta, and Deathstroke. What makes this odd is that the company's
Justice League rendition is based on The New 52 and these three have only been Injustice League members in its original incarnation and the Justice League Unlimited version… Expected to ship by the end of the year, these three members are available for
pre-order right now and we expect we'll see new pieces in the line before these ship.
Known by a number of nicknames, including the Clown Prince of Crime, the Jester of Genocide, the Harlequin of Hate, and the Ace of Knaves, we're of course talking about the Joker, a psychopath with a warped, sadistic sense of humor. As Batman's archenemy, the Joker has been part of Gotham city's most defining stories, including the murder of the second Robin, Jason Todd, and the paralysis of Commissioner Gordon's daughter, Barbara Gordon, who also was Batgirl. The Joker is typically seen in a purple suit with a long-tailed, padded-shoulder jacket, a string tie, gloves, striped pants, and spats on pointed-toe shoes (sometimes with a wide-brimmed hat).
Deathstroke, or Slade Wilson, is easily one of the greatest villains in the DC Universe. If you've ever read
Identity Crisis, then there is no way you can forget the manner in which he systematically neutralized the entire team of superheroes single-handedly… He is indeed a threat to any who oppose him, but he does have a deep-seated grudge against Green Arrow.
Black Manta's battle-suit grants him complete resistance to the cold and pressures of deep sea conditions, allows him to breathe underwater, and even has a jet pack which functions above or below the waves! Armed with an array of weapons, it should be no surprise that this submergable villain is often paired against… Aquaman!
