Is that KAWS's Companion coming back to designer toys… in Elmo's form?!?

Every time that Brooklyn-based artist Brian Donnelly, better known as KAWS, teases something that could be a new designer toy, we go nuts theorizing that it will be his newest art toy release. Well, it's about to happen again… Teased with very little information, simply stating "KAWS : BFF — Coming Soon," we have been able to discern that KAWS has teamed up with curator SK Lam of AllRightsReserved once again, this time for an exhibition at Thailand's Central Embassy. KAWS and Lam have partnered before, in 2010 for Passing Through and again last year for Clean Slate, it appears that this newest show is titled BFF and it will be opening on June 29th, running through July 30th, 2016.

Now, we have been told that "there will be more special surprise for the fans, remember to closely monitor" (machine translated from Lam's Chinese). While no more is being shared, it seems viable that the pictured piece is being released as a designer toy… and the pictured piece certainly looks like a new evolution of the artist's signature sculptural Companion, this time remade as a parody of a certain Sesame Street Muppet, Elmo.
