Brandt Peters × Kathie Olivas’s “Calliope” Stop Motion Film Kickstarter!

It's finally happening! Within the next two weeks time, Circus Posterus will be launching their new Kickstarter campaign: Calliope! The most ambitious project yet from Brandt Peters and Kathie Olivas, this 8-10 minute stop-motion short film will introduce a brand new alternate universe based on their collective world of characters colliding in a post-apocalyptic, fantasy adventure. The story focuses on Kathie Olivas’ classic toy character Calliope (Calliope Jackalope), an other-worldly girl who is unaware that she is actually Pestilence (one of the 4-horseman of the apocalypse.) Steeped in mysticism and the paranormal, Calliope sets up an oracle stand at the end of the world to act as fortune teller to a few surviving children.

Reuniting the team that made the recent Kidrobot trailer, Olivas and Peters will be co-directing this dark-humor short along with Martin Meunier, who has been behind such films as James and The Giant Peach, The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou, Starship Troopers, Paranorman, and Coraline, and executive producer/contributing writer Jon Schnepp, known for his work on Metalocalypse, The Venture Brothers, The ABCs of Death, and The Death of Superman: What Happened? Other team members include additional artisans, animators, and fabricators that have worked on many well known stop-motion features, including Tim Burton's The Nightmare Before Christmas.
