One of the most amazing things about
Taipei Toy Festival is its ability to thrive in a cooling art toy scene, and its singular focus - without the distraction of comics, games or cosplay - has even managed to woo independent Japanese toy makers, something that regional comic cons have failed to do. Hats off to the organizers!
Black Rabbit is a one man show and before you dismiss Iwa Tadayuki as a one trick pony, capable of only abusing his one singular platform in an endless parade of colours, check his blog and be amazed by the different ways in which he seeks to transform his mischievous grinning bunny. Different paintjobs, different schematics, different material coatings. I can only name a few in the industry who can do what he does on a vinyl toy and though the changes from each release to the next might not be drastic, don't let the subtlety fool you.
