Inspired by the dark delvings of real-life killer and body snatcher Ed Gein, his crimes are overshadowed by his fictional counterpart, the chainsaw-wielding maniac known as Leatherface, who has become a mainstay in the cultural consciousness since being introduced in 1974’s
The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. Joining the pieces he did based on “Pinhead” from
Hellraiser (
here), “Billy” from
Saw, and “Captain Spaulding” from
House of 1,000 Corpses (
here), UK-based artist
Hugh Rose has carefully converted a vinyl Munny figure into a detail-laden interpretation of “Leatherface,” a hand-painted work of art that is most likely for the same art collector that commissioned the other pieces. Breath-taking as always, Hugh’s technique is impreccible.
