La Luz de Jesus Gallery presents: 'MOLT' a solo show from Jason Freeny

MOLT verb ˈmōlt: to cast off (an outer covering) periodically; specifically : to throw off (the old cuticle) —used of arthropods

Jason Freeny aptly chose the word MOLT as the title for his upcoming La Luz de Jesus debut show, reflecting the display of transition inherent in the subject matter of his sculptural pieces. He has shed and moved forward from his iconic toy dissections onto pieces that are strictly about form. Freeny has always had a fascination with clean surfaces, crisp edges and beautiful volumes... and as you can see, the master of fairytale anatomy is exploring new characters and new shapes in his latest body of work!

We absolutely love the work that Jason does, and if you haven't see his piece in person, and you live in Los Angeles... now would be the time! These immaculate production like pieces are truly a marvel to look at and transport the viewer into a childlike state, reliving memories of yesteryear... but in a slightly skewed manner. The opening reception for the show is this Friday, February 6th at 8pm and the show will be on display until March 1st!
