Bill McMullen aka Billions McMillions is known for his epic work with many folks in the record industry including the Beastie Boys, and back in 2004, Bill work with the Span Of Sunset to release the Adidas shell-toe shoe hybrid Star Wars AT-AT to make his vinyl hybrid "AD-AT" art toy. What's considered to be a 'holy grail' for most art toy collectors, this long sold out piece embodies that nostalgic designer toy feel... when the scene was just planting its roots on western soil! Well, for the upcoming first large scale exhibition of Contemporary Art Toys, the folks over at
Design Exchange, Canada's Design Museum, are hosting a show entitled "
This is Not A Toy", they have asked Bill to create a 10 foot tall AD-AT... and that's exactly what he is doing... and how fitting seeing a it's the 10th anniversary of this figure!
As you can see from the above photos, Bill is well on his way to completing this massive undertaking... and if you look closely, you can see the scale comparison of the OG "AD-AT" (photo by
Mark Whitfield) to that of the now GIANT wooden beast! This show is going to be fantastic and will feature other works by
Frank Kozik, Huck Gee, KAWS, Takashi Murakami and many more, not to mention, the show is being guest curated by Pharrell Williams. They also plan on having the entire production 3" Kidrobot DUNNY collection on display! Launching on February 7th... if you are in or around the Toronto area... this is a must! Sign up
