Stranger Factory Presents: The Fine Art of Character Design Workshop w/ Kathie Olivas & Brandt Peters!

You guys, my brain is exploding right now. In conjunction with her solo show next month, Kathie Olivas will be teaching a character design workshop at Stranger Factory with Brandt Peters. Yes. An intimate, three-hour workshop on designing effective, expressive and memorable characters WITH KATHIE OLIVAS AND BRANDT PETERS. In all my years of following these two, I've yet to have the honour of hearing either speak in a formal setting about their craft, so I'm equally jealous and excited for anyone who is able to attend!

The Fine Art of Character Design is a beginner’s class that will focus on specific fundamental processes and theories, like research & development, visual impact, shape breakdowns, defining styles, character story, color theory, space and volume, and caricature. Creating character turnarounds, conveying personality and polish/presentation will also be covered.

The workshop will be two hours long and the third hour will be a critique period where Kathie and Brandt will look over your work and give their two cents. There's only 20 spots and each ticket costs $60. Participants are encouraged to bring their own supplies, but give the gallery a heads up if you need anything.
