*ON SITE* Bic Buddy custom show @ Crewest
The "BIC BUDDY CUSTOM SHOW” went down last night 3/27/2010 at Crewest in Los Angeles and boy was it a blast, it had an amazing turnout, not only from fans but also from artists involved! Marka27 and his lovely wife Liza did a fantastic job organizing this show along with Bic Plastics and ManOne from Crewest... what a fantastic time! The customs looked great, and there were also some other things on display that looked dope as well, like the 20" Bic Buddy that Marka is holding in the above picture, they even had photographer Moses Mitchell hit the streets before hand to take pictures of these customs and then they had a great slideshow playing on the wall throughout the event! Not only did I have the opportunity to be involved in the show, but I was also able to make the trip up for the opening event (obviously from the pictures) , but I was able to capture it on film, to give all of you who were not able to make it out sense of being there! Be sure to CLICK THROUGH for a full write up o the night as well as a ton of pictures!
I got to the event very early on in the day, hoping to get in the gallery to snap some shots and take some video of the customs before the event eventually kicked off, and fortunately I was able to do just that. As the night progressed the line started to form outside the door, and people were talks about Marka27's "Half Dead" 8" production Bic Buddy that was releasing that evening... but unfortunately, do to some unforeseen circumstances, the figures were held up at the US Customs office... what a bummer, but everyone seemed very understanding, and even though that happened it did not put a damper on the night at all! The figure should be out of Customs and on it's way for the New York release at Zakka on April 9th, but if you can't make it in person you can pre-order "Half Dead" right now over at Crewest for only $60 as well as the Blank 8" Bic Buddy for $25!
From Left to right in the image above is: Jesse Hernandez, Gustavo Alberto Garcia Vaca, Dez Einswell, MunkOne, SpankyStokes, kaNO, Marka27, ManOne, Ritzy Periwinkle, Moses Mitchell, Angry Woebots, Reactor88, Scribe!
As mentioned before, there were a grip of artists that came out for the show... even Jesse Hernandez hopped on a flight last minute from SF to make it there a couple hours before the gallery shut down to do some sketching for some fans, and all the artist that were there did this very thing for all their fans. Scribe flew out from KC, and Marka flew out from NYC, so rad to get all these great artists in one place! Great times great people, great friends is what sums up this whole experience... and I can't wait until the next event!
