*Review* Ashley Woods WWRp Bramble
Back in late July, Ashley Wood's company ThreeA released their new line WWRp a 1:12 scale version of their successful World War Robot toys. The goal of this new line was simple: create great toys at a smaller and therefore more reasonable rate, while keeping the quality that ThreeA is known for. And now that the first toys are hitting US shores, it's time to take a closer look at them and see if they have met those goals.
First off let's talk price, these brambles were sold exclusively through Ashley's Bambaland store in either a 3 pack or the 6 pack with singles being sold at popular retailers everywhere. The cost at the time was $110 for the 3 pack and $220 for the 6 pack respectively, while the singles retail for $45. For this price you get a almost 7 in. fully articulated vinyl figure complete with 4 accessory pouches and a six in. gattling gun (double pistols for the Euro figure). By fully articulating I mean that the fingers are completely movable at each digit as well as the hands arms, shoulders, waist, head, legs and feet. Not only does this allow the Bramble to be arranged in some great poses but it also affords one a chance to test out his balance which is quite fun for one legged poses or to recreate a tai chi move.
The paint and finish on the brambles are second to none. These guys are hand painted in multiple layers allowing all kinds of rust and grime to shine through while providing a great patina that seems almost natural. The weapons and packs are also given the full weathering treatment making for a toy that's sure to land a place of pride in your collection. Now the bad news, these guys are going quick in many places. Bambaland only sells what they make for a limited time then move onto the next project which is currently the WWRp Bertie 7 pack. The singles for the Brambles can be found at Sideshow Collectibles for $45 each with 5 different versions: Medic, Merc, Marine, Euro and Winter available now. Bambaland's 7 pack Bertie special is getting pulled soon as well to make room for retailers singles,so be quick if you want the deal. Word is also out that retailers will have special variants not seen from ThreeA so keep a lookout for special versions from you favorite stores.
