SDCC INTERVIEW - UNKL

(Click to play)

When I first got into collecting vinyl toys, the Hazmapo was one of the first toys that caught my eye, and in fact it was the second piece of vinyl I bought. The guys over at UNKL (Derek & Jason) have always been super cool, and when we approached Jason to ask him if it would be cool to do a little interview...he was all in! It is really cool to hear about where they get some of their concepts for the figures that they create. Thanks so much to fellow SpankyStokes blogger Xopher for doing this audio interview for the site.

This is the fourth of five interview done at SDCC08, and I plan on posting up the last one soon. If you would like to view the past interviews, you can navigate to them on the right hand column of this site. I would like to apologize for the quality of this sound...we had no mic and it was recorded straight to an iPhone! Also don't forget about the Seven Quickfire questions below, and thanks for taking the time to read/listen to us!

Seven Quickfire Questions:
1. What is your fullname and/or nickname?
Jason Bacon

2. Where were you where born?
Menominee Michigan, but it's not where I'm from. Portland is home and has
shaped me more than any other place I've lived.

3. Who taught you the most in life?
I would say that there is no one person, but rather a different person
from every era of my life. I try and learn as much as I can from everyone I
get to know and then put it all together. Sort of a greatest hits album or a
perfect playlist of life lessons that never stops growing and changing.

4. Who is your current favorite band?
Tough to pick one, but here are my current tops: The National,
Detektivbyrån, Les Savy Fav, edIT, La Cosa Nostra

5. What's your favorite movie?
The Royal Tenenbaums

6. What's your favorite food?
Mexican, Indian, Middle eastern

7. Who would win in a fight, pirates or ninjas?
Ninja's. Pirates are too drunk, tired and hungry to get it done. Plus,
they lack any sort of higher purpose to get them through the tough times.
Even considering that there's probably a ship full of pirates versus five or
six ninja's. I'd still say ninja's for sure.

It was really awesome to meet you again Jason, and the products that UNKL puts out are still top notch. I am looking forward to seeing what you guys come up with in the future and can't wait for the "DC" SUG to release. Thanks again!
